Superstorm Sandy 2012

Staten Island, 2012:

Superstorm Sandy badly damaged Staten Island with devastating storm surges, winds and floods, killing many people and leaving even more homeless. Boats were displaced from marinas and deposited on the shore. Trees toppled, damaging homes and cars. Many volunteers stepped forward to collect and distribute food and clothing for the newly needy.

2013 New York City Marathon

One year after Superstorm Sandy forced the cancellation of The 2012 New York City Marathon, the race was once again held with 50,000 runners participatiing.The race began in Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island with many runners arriving before dawn in chilly temperatures.
